Product Overview

The SilverStone DS380B (model SST-DS380B) is a small form factor NAS and server chassis built for high drive density in a compact footprint. It pairs a premium brushed aluminium front door with an SECC steel body, and takes Mini-ITX and Mini-DTX motherboards, making it well suited to home NAS builds, home labs and small business storage servers.

Drive Capacity

The DS380B holds up to 12 drives: 8 hot-swappable 3.5 inch or 2.5 inch SAS/SATA bays behind the lockable front door, plus 4 fixed internal 2.5 inch bays. The hot-swap backplane makes drive replacement and array expansion quick without opening the chassis.

Cooling and Airflow

Cooling is handled by two 120mm front intake fans with removable dust filters and one 120mm side fan, keeping a full set of drives at safe operating temperatures. Ventilated side panels support steady airflow across the drive cages.

Expansion and Compatibility

The chassis provides 4 expansion slots and supports dual slot expansion cards, so it can take a host bus adapter or RAID controller alongside a graphics or network card. CPU coolers up to 57mm in height are supported. A standard SFX or SFX-L power supply is required and is sold separately.

Front Connectivity

Front input and output covers 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a headphone (audio out) jack and a microphone jack, with a lockable power button.

Build and Dimensions

Finished in black, the DS380B measures 211mm (W) x 285mm (H) x 360mm (D). The aluminium and steel construction gives a rigid, well cooled home for a dense storage array in a space that fits on or under a desk.
